Crystal Palace have appealed against Jean-Philippe Mateta’s straight red card during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham. The striker faces a three-match suspension unless the disciplinary decision is overturned or reduced.
Oliver initially booked Mateta for a challenge on Micky van de Ven in the 13th minute before video review upgraded the punishment to a red card. Palace argue the contact was accidental and that Mateta was watching the ball. The appeal comes ahead of a league meeting with Liverpool.
