FC Twente began their Conference League league phase with a 1-0 home win over Swiss club FC Thun. A disputed VAR intervention left Thun with ten players shortly before Ramiz Zerrouki scored the winner.
The referee initially cautioned Twente’s Zerrouki after a challenge, but video review instead led to Thun’s Patrik Kristal being sent off. Zerrouki scored in the 65th minute after a move involving Sondre Ørjasæter and Daouda Weidmann.
