Borussia Dortmund and Niko Kovač

Borussia Dortmund have extended head coach Niko Kovač’s contract until June 2029 following his successful turnaround of the Bundesliga club. Dortmund also renewed the agreements of assistant coaches Robert Kovač and Filip Tapalović, reinforcing their commitment to the current coaching team.
Kovač took over in January 2025 when Dortmund were eleventh, guiding them to fourth place and Champions League qualification. They finished second the following season and have won four of their opening five Bundesliga matches this campaign. Club officials cited stability, development and sustained progress.
