Ella Toone, Lucy Bronze and England Women
8 October 2026
Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone has been recalled to England’s squad for the Women’s World Cup play-offs against Greece. Chelsea defender Lucy Bronze has withdrawn to manage a minor injury sustained during club duty.
Toone returns after initially being omitted by Sarina Wiegman over recent performances. England face Greece in a two-legged tie, with the winners progressing to another play-off round against Slovakia or Ukraine for a place at the 2027 World Cup.
