CAS Hears Senegal Appeal Over Stripped AFCON Title

Senegal, Morocco and the Court of Arbitration for Sport
8 October 2026

The Court of Arbitration for Sport began hearing Senegal’s appeal against the decision to overturn their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final victory. CAF previously awarded Morocco a 3-0 win after Senegal temporarily walked off the pitch.

Senegal argues that the referee allowed the match to resume and the completed result should stand. Morocco relies on tournament rules governing unauthorised walk-offs. CAS officials indicated that a decision could follow within days, rather than immediately after the hearing.
