Aston Villa left-back Ian Maatsen suffered an ankle injury during the 2-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest after a heavy challenge from James McAtee. Unai Emery said the problem could require a lengthy recovery, although the exact severity remains unclear.
Maatsen went off in the 80th minute after Villa had used every substitution, forcing them to finish with 10 players. Emery argued McAtee should have been sent off and said the club was still waiting for clearer information on the injury.
