Manchester City opened their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win at Porto as Erling Haaland scored both goals. The brace took Haaland to 59 goals in 59 Champions League appearances and extended Enzo Maresca’s perfect start as City manager.
Haaland struck twice after half-time, first converting a close-range header before redirecting Rayan Ait-Nouri’s pass for his second. He also reached 36 Champions League goals for City, drawing level with Sergio Aguero as the club’s leading scorer in the competition.
