Sunderland’s proposed £25.7m move for Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie is in serious danger after the 20-year-old failed his initial medical examinations. He has returned to France while further tests are conducted and both clubs reconsider the transfer.
Sunderland had agreed £24m guaranteed plus £1.7m in add-ons before the medical raised concerns. The setback leaves the club without its expected defensive reinforcement and could force a renegotiation, delay or complete withdrawal from the proposed deal.
