Pogba “touched” by reception on emotional Monaco debut

Pogba finally made his Monaco debut in a 4-1 defeat at Rennes, coming on in the 85th minute for his first competitive appearance since September 2023 after his drugs ban, ending more than two years of enforced absence from football. Post-match he admitted he was both happy and disappointed, saying the warm ovation from Rennes fans “touched” him, while stressing he still needs time and training to reach full fitness, play 90 minutes and consistently help Monaco’s talented squad.

Samuel Umtiti (ex-Barcelona / Lille) has revealed how recurring knee injuries after the 2018 World Cup wrecked his Barcelona career, triggered bouts of depression and ultimately pushed him toward a premature retirement aged 31 despite earlier trophy success for club and country. He said disagreements over treatment with Barcelona staff led him to seek outside specialists who advised against surgery, a choice the club accepted but which he believes created an internal rift, fuelled false stories and left him feeling blamed while simply trying to return.
