Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground redevelopment is being heavily bankrolled by public funds, with about £18m in non-repayable state aid going towards a new Kop stand, floodlights and pitch upgrades, far exceeding public support given to any other club in England or Wales. Local and Welsh government regeneration plans around Wrexham General station have funnelled money directly to the club, with documents admitting there is “no incentive” for private investors, sparking debate over why a project fronted by wealthy Hollywood owners is being underwritten by taxpayers.
