Sunderland have reached a club-record agreement to sign midfielder Habib Diarra from Strasbourg for £30m total. The 20-year-old Senegalese star is seen as a direct replacement for Jobe Bellingham, who recently departed the club.
The deal includes £27m upfront and £3m in add-ons. Diarra chose Sunderland over Leeds and others. He is expected to undergo a medical and sign shortly, funded entirely by the Bellingham transfer proceeds.
