Santos FC received city approval to replace their historic Vila Belmiro with a modern 30,000-seat stadium in a project worth at least £96m. The new venue will double capacity and reshape the club’s infrastructure after more than a century at their old ground. The redevelopment, set to take three years, comes after decades of calls for modernization. Vila Belmiro, opened in 1916, will give way to a state-of-the-art arena designed to meet modern standards while preserving Santos’ heritage and accommodating growing fan demands for improved facilities.
