Chelsea edge Wrexham in extra time after red card swings tie

Chelsea progressed 4-2 after extra time in a major scare, with Wrexham twice leading. Wrexham scored through Smith, then an Arthur Okonkwo own goal levelled it. Callum Doyle put Wrexham back ahead before George Dobson’s red card changed the tie. Chelsea forced extra time via Josh Acheampong, then Joao Pedro and Garnacho decided it. A late Wrexham equaliser attempt was ruled offside.

Wrexham missed a chance to push toward the Championship playoff places after conceding a 90th-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Leicester. Wrexham improved after halftime and scored on 62 minutes when O’Brien finished from close range after Stolarczyk could only push a cross into his path. Leicester offered little until a late free-kick was worked into the box and Vestergaard finished after Okoli’s knockdown.
