FIFA, national teams and club competitions
21 September to 6 October 2026
FIFA’s revised international calendar is now in effect, creating a 16-day September and October window that allows national teams to play four matches. The change reduces the early-season schedule from three international breaks to two and cuts total disruption by one week.
FIFA approved the calendar changes in 2023, with the 2026-27 season becoming the first to use them. This season’s domestic schedule now has international windows in September-October, November and March, while additional international periods fall after the club season in June and July.
