Algeria began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 3-1 home victory over Zambia in Ibrahim Hamdani’s first match as head coach. Jaouen Hadj, Ibrahim Maza and Anis Hadj Moussa scored for the hosts.
Fashion Sakala equalised for Zambia after half-time, but Maza restored Algeria’s advantage ten minutes later and Hadj Moussa added the third. The result put Algeria top of Group Nine on goal difference ahead of Togo after the opening round.
