Away fans clashed with police and stewards in the Bayern section at the Emirates before kick-off, with confrontations and unrest confined to the visiting end. Earlier, hundreds of Bayern supporters had marched around Highbury Fields with flares under police escort but without reported violence toward home fans. Met Police implemented a “robust policing plan”, working with Arsenal security and urging vigilance from all supporters, including ticketless Bayern fans. The tension followed previous UEFA sanctions that banned Bayern fans from an away leg at Arsenal after repeated pyrotechnic offences, leaving the club under close scrutiny over supporter behaviour.
