Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are close to selling their respective 12.8 percent Chelsea stakes to majority owner Clearlake Capital. The potential internal transaction would further consolidate Clearlake’s control after relations between Boehly and the private-equity group deteriorated.
Chelsea’s 2022 ownership agreement prevents consortium members selling outside the group for 10 years, positioning Clearlake to buy the shares. Clearlake already owns 61.5 percent of BlueCo, while Hansjorg Wyss has not yet determined the future of his stake.
