Blaise Matuidi has lavished praise on Vitinha after the midfielder’s first career hat trick in PSG’s 5-3 Champions League win against Tottenham, calling the Portuguese star exceptional and suggesting he is now perhaps the best midfielder in the world on current form. Vitinha scored in the 45th, 53rd and 76th minutes, including a late penalty, to cap a complete display of pressing, passing and intelligent movement. Matuidi highlighted his speed of thought, wide shooting range and Thiago Motta style reading of play, and urged him to emulate Luka Modric and chase future Ballon d’Or contention.
