Barcelona and their Spain World Cup winners

Barcelona have cancelled a planned Camp Nou tribute for their eight Spain World Cup winners following clashes involving supporters and national police before the club’s match at Elche. The ceremony had been scheduled before Thursday’s game against Athletic Club.
President Joan Laporta said the current atmosphere was inappropriate for the celebration and again condemned police treatment of supporters carrying Estelada flags. Barcelona called for punishment and sanctions after the reported confiscations and physical confrontations.
