Greater Manchester authorities have disclosed details of Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s past meetings with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. The disclosure follows political demands for transparency over Burnham’s relationship with the club’s ownership amid its ongoing financial-rules appeal.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority identified one formal meeting at a government investment summit in October 2021 and an informal encounter at Vincent Kompany’s testimonial in September 2019. Officials said other hospitality had been declared, while opposition politicians continued demanding further details.
