Real Madrid, Villarreal and Vinícius Júnior

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Villarreal despite finishing with ten players after Vinícius Júnior was sent off for pulling an opponent’s hair. Yan Diomande scored the winning goal, his first for Real Madrid.
Diomande converted Federico Valverde’s pass in the 62nd minute. Vinícius later thought he had scored a second, but VAR disallowed the goal after detecting an off-the-ball hair pull involving Villarreal defender Nathan Salisu. The Brazilian received a straight red card and subsequently apologised.
