Atletico Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-0 in the Champions League, extending Michael Carrick’s side’s winless run to five matches. An opening-minute goal from Pablo Barrios and Leny Yoro’s second-half dismissal left United facing another damaging European defeat.
Barrios put Atletico ahead inside sixty seconds. United struggled to recover, and Yoro received a red card in the 74th minute. Ademola Lookman subsequently doubled Atletico’s advantage, securing victory for Diego Simeone’s side and increasing pressure on Carrick after United’s difficult start to the season.
