Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany, Aaron Danks and Arsenal
20 October 2026
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly struggling with a viral illness and severe hip discomfort ahead of the club’s Champions League meeting with Arsenal. His condition has forced him to miss training and raised questions about whether he can manage from the touchline.
Kompany spent much of Bayern’s 6-1 Bundesliga victory over RB Leipzig seated on the bench while assistant Aaron Danks handled touchline instructions. German reporting says the illness has aggravated old scar tissue around his hip. Kompany subsequently missed Monday’s training session and received medical attention. Bayern’s coaching staff can oversee preparations if he remains unwell, although the club had not confirmed that he would miss the Arsenal fixture.
