Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Cristian Romero

Atletico Madrid have opened talks over a summer move for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero. Spurs expect the Argentina defender to leave, while Atletico manager Diego Simeone is pushing to sign a long-term target whose personal terms are not expected to be difficult.

Tottenham are willing to sell Romero abroad but have ruled out a move to north London rivals Arsenal. Inter Milan also remain interested after previously agreeing a fee with Spurs, leaving Atletico competing for the defender before the window closes.

Al-Hilal, Barcelona and Marc Casado

Al-Hilal’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado remains stalled because the clubs are far apart on valuation. Barcelona want more than €30m and hope for close to €40m, while the Saudi club is unwilling to meet that price.

Personal negotiations are much further advanced, with Casado and Al-Hilal understood to have a good understanding over terms. Barcelona previously rejected an offer, leaving the transfer dependent on whether the clubs can narrow their financial gap before the window closes.

Manchester United, Celta Vigo and Altay Bayindir

Manchester United have confirmed goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has joined Celta Vigo on a season-long loan. The agreement includes a £3.5m option for the Spanish club to make the Turkey international’s move permanent next summer.

Bayindir leaves after making only 17 United appearances since arriving from Fenerbahce in 2023. Celta can convert the deal permanently, while United also secured performance bonuses and a sell-on clause as part of their wider goalkeeping restructure.

Manchester City, Barcelona and Rodri

Manchester City are set to reject Barcelona’s opening offer for Rodri after the Spanish club entered direct negotiations. Barcelona proposed €45m plus €15m in add-ons, while City are demanding €65m for the Spain international this summer.

Rodri has reportedly agreed personal terms and informed Real Madrid that Barcelona is now his preferred destination. The bid represents a concrete escalation from earlier interest, but Barcelona must still bridge City’s valuation gap to complete the transfer.

Leeds United have completed the signing of England goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City for a fee that could reach £45m. The five-year deal makes Trafford Leeds’ record purchase and the most expensive British goalkeeper in history.

City are guaranteed £40m and retained a 20% sell-on clause plus matching rights on future offers. Trafford sought regular first-team football after Gianluigi Donnarumma limited him to four Premier League appearances during the previous season.

Jeremy Doku and Manchester City

Jeremy Doku has agreed a new Manchester City contract running until 2031, with an official announcement expected next week. The Belgium winger becomes the fourth City player to extend this summer after Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov.
