Raul Jimenez scored a 93rd-minute penalty on his first league appearance back at Wolves as they drew 2-2 with Blackburn in the Championship curtain-raiser. The Mexico striker returned to Molineux this summer after three years away and began the match as a substitute.

Blackburn led through Andri Gudjohnsen after Sean McLoughlin cancelled out Marshall Munetsi’s opener, but a late handball gave Wolves their chance. Jimenez converted calmly to rescue a point and give new manager Cesar Peixoto a draw in his first English league game.

PSV forward Alassane Plea has suffered another injury in training and is expected to remain unavailable until at least the end of September. The 33-year-old had only recently returned after a serious knee problem wiped out most of his previous season.

The new injury is unrelated to Plea’s previous knee issue but leaves PSV short of senior centre-forward options behind Ricardo Pepi. Local reporting says the setback could force the Dutch champions to change transfer plans and recruit another striker.

Police can use the system to identify people on football banning orders or wanted for serious offences. Deployments require match-specific justification, visible warning signs and senior authorisation, while images of supporters who do not match police watchlists are deleted immediately.

De Jong Reveals MCL Tear Amid Barcelona Tension

Frenkie de Jong and Barcelona
Friday

Frenkie de Jong has publicly criticised false reports about his fitness and attitude as tensions around his Barcelona rehabilitation resurface. The midfielder confirmed he suffered a medial collateral ligament tear at the World Cup and chose conservative treatment instead of surgery.

Barcelona sources expect De Jong’s recovery could extend until around November and have doubts about progress so far. The Dutchman also strongly denied refusing to play against Atletico Madrid last season, saying reports questioning his commitment make him angry and irritated.
