Real Madrid’s board has unanimously proposed appointing tennis legend Rafael Nadal as a director. His nomination will be submitted to club members for approval at an extraordinary general assembly on 21 November.

The proposed appointment follows Article 46 of Real Madrid’s statutes. Nadal has publicly accepted the nomination and expressed his intention to contribute to the club. Members must still ratify his appointment before he can formally join the board. The extraordinary assembly will take place after the club’s ordinary financial and administrative meeting.

Why It Matters

Nadal could take a formal leadership role at one of football's largest clubs, subject to member approval.
