Chicago and Portland have joined the bidding process to host matches at the 2031 Women’s World Cup, according to ESPN. Both cities were absent from the original list of 27 potential American venues submitted with the joint bid by the United States, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica.

Chicago could offer Soldier Field or the Chicago Fire’s planned new stadium, while Portland could use Providence Park, which would require a natural grass playing surface. The four-country bid is currently unopposed, with FIFA expected to confirm the host nations on 23 November. Individual host cities and stadiums will be selected later, and neither city’s inclusion is guaranteed.
