Lisandro Martínez, Manchester United and Michael Carrick

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez apologised after publicly attacking the club’s recruitment and hierarchy following defeat to Atlético Madrid. The Argentina international was also fined following a meeting with United officials and head coach Michael Carrick.
Martínez said his criticism came from frustration after the Champions League loss and acknowledged that its timing was wrong. The club reportedly considers the matter closed, although the defender’s future remains uncertain with his contract due to expire at season’s end.
