Zamalek have suffered a double setback before their African Champions League qualifier against Rwanda’s APR. Left-back Mahmoud Bentayg faces three to four weeks out with a hamstring tear, while head coach Moatamed Gamal has undergone emergency back surgery.

Medical examinations confirmed Bentayg’s injury, ruling him out of the upcoming continental tie. Gamal was instructed to rest for 48 hours following his operation and is expected to rejoin the travelling squad during preparations. The developments follow Zamalek’s recent Cairo derby defeat.
