Sheffield United legend Billy Sharp has announced his retirement from professional football aged 40, ending a 22-year career with 299 goals. The experienced striker represented numerous English clubs and became an important figure in several successful promotion campaigns.
Sharp finished his career at Doncaster Rovers, scoring a hat-trick against Peterborough in his final appearance. He helped Sheffield United win three promotions across his spells at the club. Having completed his coaching qualifications, he is considering a future in management.
