Ferran Torres, Carlos Espi and Spain
3 October 2026
Ferran Torres has withdrawn from Spain’s squad because of persistent pain in his left ankle, ruling him out of the remaining Nations League fixtures. Real Madrid forward Carlos Espi has received his first senior call-up as Torres’ replacement.
Torres had initially continued training despite the discomfort before Spain decided to prioritise his recovery. Espi joins the senior squad immediately after scoring a record five goals for Spain Under-21s in their 13-0 victory over San Marino.
