Columbus Crew beat Inter Miami 2-1 after Jamal Thiare scored in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time. Lionel Messi had earlier equalised with a direct free-kick after former Miami striker Josef Martinez opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
Miami substitute Santiago Morales was sent off after receiving two quick yellow cards before Thiare converted a rebound moments later. The victory lifted Columbus to 12th in the Eastern Conference and kept their playoff hopes alive.
