Luka Modric and Croatia
26 September 2026
Luka Modric became Croatia’s oldest goalscorer as the 41-year-old captain helped his country beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in Prague. His second-half strike was his 30th international goal and broke new ground for the national team.
Adam Karabec quickly equalised for the hosts before Ivan Perisic crossed for Marco Pasalic to head Croatia back in front. A later Czech equaliser was ruled out by VAR, allowing Croatia to complete the Nations League victory.
