Belgium opened their Nations League campaign by beating Italy 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, giving Mark van Bommel victory in his first match as national coach. Mika Godts scored his first Belgium goal before Dodi Lukebakio sealed the win.
Godts struck after 20 minutes before substitute Lukebakio added the second in the 69th. Italy created chances after half-time but could not recover, leaving Roberto Mancini with defeat in the opening match of his second spell in charge of the Azzurri.
