PSV opened their Eredivisie title defence with a 2-2 home draw against Fortuna Sittard after Édouard Michut equalised in the 92nd minute. PSV had recovered from a first-half deficit through Ryan Flamingo and 18-year-old Noah Fernandez.
Fortuna repeatedly threatened despite PSV dominating possession and punished another uneven defensive performance from Peter Bosz’s side. Michut’s late strike denied the champions three points and extended a difficult start following their 4-0 Johan Cruyff Shield defeat.
