Colo Colo, Vozinha and the Chilean Football Federation
Tuesday
Colo Colo officially unveiled Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha after securing a federation exemption allowing him to wear his famous nickname. Chilean league regulations normally require legal names and prohibit nicknames, appellations or sobriquets on playing shirts.
The 40-year-old signed a six-month contract following his breakout World Cup performances. Vozinha said the name honours his grandmother and carries deep Cape Verdean meaning, while the exemption preserves the identity through which he gained global recognition.
