Newcastle United have completed the £25.7m signing of Czech Republic goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek from Braga. The 24-year-old signed a five-year contract after Newcastle activated his release clause and joined the club’s training camp in Spain.
Hornicek arrives after keeping seven clean sheets during Braga’s Europa League semi-final run and ranking highly for passing among Portuguese top-flight goalkeepers. Newcastle identified a new first-choice keeper as a priority after conceding 55 league goals last season.
