Brentford, Lens and Mamadou Sangare

Brentford have signed Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare from Lens for a club-record fee, surpassing the £42.5m paid for Dango Ouattara. The 24-year-old agreed a five-year contract containing an option that could extend his stay by another season.

Sangare arrives after making 33 appearances during Lens’ second-place league campaign and becoming an important Mali international. Brentford tracked him for an extended period and believe his ball-winning, progression and determination provide qualities missing from their existing midfield group.
