Nigeria, Zambia and Asisat Oshoala
Saturday
Nigeria revived their Women’s World Cup qualification hopes by beating Zambia 1-0 at WAFCON despite playing the entire second half with ten players. Asisat Oshoala scored the eighth-minute winner before Oluwatosin Demehin received a red card before half-time.
Zambia could not exploit their numerical advantage as Nigeria defended their narrow lead and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made a key save. The result moves both teams onto three points behind Malawi before the final Group C fixtures on Wednesday.
