UEFA, Concacaf, FIFA and Gianni Infantino
Thursday
UEFA’s 55 member associations unanimously agreed to boycott every FIFA competition if plans to sell minority stakes in major tournaments proceed. Concacaf’s 41 associations separately rejected the proposal and raised concerns over governance, transparency and FIFA leadership.
The boycott covers men’s and women’s World Cups and the Club World Cup until FIFA abandons the plan and gives binding assurances. With both European and North American associations opposed, the proposal now faces a major political and voting obstacle.
