Aston Villa, Freiburg and Johan Manzambi

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi from Freiburg for a club-record fee of just over £50m. The 20-year-old joins after a breakout season and strong World Cup, where Switzerland reached the quarter-finals.
Villa moved quickly after Newcastle had been close to a deal, with Manzambi preferring Villa Park. He strengthens Unai Emery’s midfield after Youri Tielemans joined Manchester United and Amadou Onana suffered a serious World Cup knee injury.
